NO CELL PHONES OR HEADPHONES/EARBUDS ALLOWED DURING DIRECT INSTRUCTION.
When students enter the classroom, they must...
turn their cell phones off,
put them on "airplane mode" or "do not disturb,"
OR
silence them completely (NOT vibrate or flashing).
They must then place their phone in the phone hanger at the front of the room according to their desk number. Missing phones in the hanger = TARDY!
ALL other electronics (headphones, smart watches, personal computers, etc.) must be put away into students' backpacks/purses BEFORE the bell work timer ends.
If Ms. Tyack sees a phone or other electronic devices out after the bell work timer ends, she will take the device(s) which will then be sent to the "cell block." 🔗
If a personal electronic device is sent to the cell block, students can come at the END OF THE SCHOOL DAY where the device(s) will be released back into their custody.
No exceptions. No plea deals. No bail.
Occasionally students are allowed to listen to music while they work independently (see "Music During Class").
When Ms. Tyack gives permission to do so, students must choose a song/playlist and then immediately put their phones back in their backpack. Students who abuse this privilege will have their phones jailed and will no longer be allowed to listen to music while working.
If students are using their Chromebook to charge their phones, the phone still must still be put away in their backpack.
Phones are not allow in hands, on laps, or on desks at any time during class instruction.
If a parents/guardians/family members need to contact a student, they must call the main office at (661) 758-7400.
They may also contact Ms. Tyack's room directly by dialing extension 51606.
The office can contact the teacher and have the student sent to the office in cases of emergency.
